There comes a time when we are no longer surprised by the unpleasant surprises that can arise. It’s terrible what I’m saying, isn’t it?
In fact, from the moment you agree to fix up a hundred-year-old house, it is better to think that all the work you do can only improve the condition of the house. And suddenly, you are much more zen (or at least you try) in the face of unfortunate situations. In short, the house sends signals and by giving it love, you hope it will return it to you.
All that to say we expected the garage ceiling to leak. Especially with the weird winter we’ve had: thaw, freeze, thaw, freeze.
In the end, it was nothing major, a few buckets were able to collect the water that was leaking in some places. It was annoying all the same, and it determined a renovation priority for the summer: the roof of the garage. We realized that the drain on the roof was very badly located (the slope was ineffective) and that a kind of mesh hat prevented the water from flowing. We removed it and it helped a lot.
