By demolishing the false ceiling of the 1st, we were pleasantly surprised. No drama, no disaster, how fun!
It must be said that we were prepared for everything: split beam, water infiltration, mold, carpenter insects… We are lucky, there is practically none of that! Apart from the water due to the shower flowing , there is nothing apparent. So all in all, going back to the “skeleton” of the house will have been beneficial for two things: obviously, cleaning out the period materials, as well as seeing that the structure is good and solid.
This will also be an opportunity to clean up the wires and pipes. Many have not been used for a long time and are hanging around unnecessarily. Fact to mention: we still fell out of our chair when we found beer glasses as ends of plumbing pipes. How creative…
