The arrival of spring is the perfect opportunity to discover new tricks. I offer you two here, which are inspired by zero waste.
1 – Use lemon
The first smells that come to mind when you think of spring are those of cleanliness, of lemon. To clean the house, consider using lemon: it’s eco-friendly and effective!
Shine windows and mirrors with this trick: Soak a cloth of lemon juice to rub the surfaces, then wipe with a dry cloth.
Deodorize your cutting boards: after cleaning it with soapy water, rub the board with half a lemon, on the side of the pulp.
Freshen the ambient air: bring 1 liter of water and lemon slices to the boil. For more whimsy, add sprigs of rosemary! Let it simmer for an hour and enjoy that fresh home fragrance.
2 – Prepare seedlings from leftover vegetables
This little project is suitable for both children and adults: rather than composting or throwing away leftover vegetables, keep them to share the roots. Just soak in a bottom of water the cores of:
lettuces
Celery
Green onions
Fennels
Leeks.
When roots have grown, plant these seedlings in a pot filled with potting soil.
You can also keep tomato and pepper seeds and plant them in a pot filled with potting soil that you will water every week.
You can keep your mini garden indoors and then take it out when the outside temperature allows it.
For the outer pot, I recommend a “Smart pot”. I myself have several on my balcony.
