{"id":712,"date":"2020-07-05T11:28:04","date_gmt":"2020-07-05T15:28:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/renobunker.com\/?p=712"},"modified":"2021-12-09T14:50:40","modified_gmt":"2021-12-09T19:50:40","slug":"step-3-minimize-and-optimize-your-wardrobe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/renobunker.com\/en\/step-3-minimize-and-optimize-your-wardrobe\/","title":{"rendered":"Step 3: Minimize and Optimize your Wardrobe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a tricky one for women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because women have more clothes than men (but maybe we do), but because our body and our appearance are called to change drastically between those moments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Pregnancy<\/li><li>Post-pregnancy<\/li><li>At work<\/li><li>At home<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m not a big clothes consumer, but I keep my clothes for a very long time and I inherit many from my sister. Also, pregnancy clothes are expensive and I want to keep mines in case we have another child (hello boyfriend!). But of course I don&#8217;t want to see them everyday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I decided to mix 5 quick methods to achieve the goal of decluttering my wardrobe, in a very iterative way (for a timelaps of one year or so).<br>1 &#8211; Don&#8217;t buy new clothing for a while<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How&#8217;s that? Well, you won&#8217;t see the good of minimizing your wardrobe if you keep adding items. Doesn&#8217;t mean you can&#8217;t exchange clothes though. (Ever heard about Switch &amp; B*tch meetings? This should be the subject of a future post.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or if you do buy, use the mantra: &#8220;One in, one out!&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2 &#8211; Categorize your Clothes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take out every cloth you own and ask yourself: &#8220;In which occasion do I put this on more often?&#8221;. This should lead you to define some categories. Here are mines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Pregnancy<\/li><li>Winter<\/li><li>Summer<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then clearly separate your clothes between those categories. You can use containers, but I personaly bought plastic bags from the dollar store. The air can be sucked out, which saves a lot of space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just by doing this, you should already have dismissed some pieces\u200b of clothing ;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3 &#8211; Use your support<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a tip I read from becomingminimalist.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With every cloth that you keep, turn the support. When you put it back after washing it, put it the right way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you are ready to open another bag, take out everything you haven&#8217;t put on before, with the support upside down. And be honest. Some clothes maybe were in the wrong category, give it another chance. But give away all the rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4 &#8211; Always see everything<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Except for your underwear and accessories, try to always see the globality of your wardrobe. If you keep some clothes in a drawer and some other in your wardrobe, you might feel like you don&#8217;t have enough clothes. Or worse forget what you own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep everything at the same place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5 &#8211; Buy smarter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now that your wardrobe is simplier and happier, every new piece of clothing you buy should respect these principles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Does it fit with what I already own?<\/li><li>It is classical or trendy? Classical will last you longer.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I decided to go for a classical wardrobe, I chose to buy white, gray, black, marine blue, taupe and greige stuff. I never regretted any new item.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Free tip: to feel like your wardrobe is more clean and organized, take only one kind of support. IKEA has a beautiful and non-expensive model here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In conclusion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is there really a conclusion to that? \ud83d\ude09 I think it is a work-in-progress that will lasts forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have read about the 333 method, which sounded so interesting but maybe too drastic for me.
